BlackRock Excavating performed the underground utility portion of the Lian Water Line Relocation project in Knoxville, Tennessee. Working as Underground Utility Subcontractor to MTC, BlackRock completed the water main relocation scope, including new 6-inch DI water line, a hot tap, blow-off work, site preparation, and final tie-in.
Overview
The project involved relocating a water main and placing the new line into operation. BlackRock Excavating's work included 200 LF of 6-inch DI pipe along with branch installation, main line installation, blow-off installation, and site preparation. The new line was filled on July 17 to begin the disinfection process. A Bac T sample was taken on July 23, followed by the final tie-in on July 29. The new water line was operational at 1400 on July 29.

The Challenge
The project required installation and tie-in of a relocated water main while following the necessary sequence for filling, disinfection, sampling, and placing the new line into operation.
Our Solution
Working as Underground Utility Subcontractor to MTC, BlackRock Excavating completed its assigned underground utility scope and supported the progression of the new water line from installation through the final tie-in.
The Result
The 200 LF of 6-inch DI pipe was installed, the required hot tap and blow-off work were completed, and the final tie-in was completed July 29. The new water line was operational at 1400 that day. Dress/clean up remained incomplete based on the supplied project production record.
