Overview

Black Rock Excavating performed the underground utility portion of a water main rehabilitation project in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, for the City of Tellico Plains. Working as Underground Utility Subcontractor to MTC, Black Rock rehabilitated 5,500 linear feet of water main, including three hot taps and several valve clusters, over a project running from March 2024 through May 2024.

Scope of Work

5,500 linear feet of water main rehabilitation, three hot taps, and several valve clusters.

The Challenge

Existing water line locations were not clearly documented by the water department, which slowed progress as work proceeded, and rock excavation was required along portions of the alignment.

Our Solution

Black Rock worked through the uncertain utility locations as the project progressed and adapted excavation methods to account for rock along the route, continuing the rehabilitation as Underground Utility Subcontractor to MTC from March through May 2024.

The Result

Black Rock completed rehabilitation of 5,500 linear feet of water main, including three hot taps and several valve clusters, for the City of Tellico Plains water system.
